Achilles Tendinitis / Tear

Typically, achilles tendinitis is not related to a specific injury. The problem comes from repetitive stress to the achilles tendon when we push our bodies to do too much like suddenly increasing the amount or intensity of exercise. A sudden increase of aggressive exercise activity can cause tight calf muscles or bone spurs leading to an achilles tendon tear.

Symptoms of Achillies Tears

  • Pain and stiffness along the achilles tendon in the morning
  • Pain along the tendon or back of the heel that worsens with activity
  • Severe pain the day after exercising
  • Thickening of the tendon
  • Bone spur
  • Swelling that is present all the time and gets worse throughout the day with activity
